Tensions Between Belmadi and Algerian Football Federation, Kirosh Likely Successor

The former coach of the Algerian national team, Djamel Belmadi, has threatened the Algerian Football Federation with taking the matter to FIFA to obtain his full dues after being dismissed from his position due to repeated setbacks in recent years, the latest being the early exit from the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

According to the Algerian newspaper El Nahar, Belmadi recently contacted the Algerian Football Federation, informing them of his intention to resort to FIFA within a maximum of eight days. He emphasized his demand for all his monthly salaries until the end of his contract extending to December 2026, in exchange for his departure, which amounts to 7,280,000 euros.

The same source indicates that the Algerian Football Federation, led by Walid Sadi, has renewed its rejection of Belmadi's demands, insisting on granting him a maximum compensation of three months, foreshadowing a dispute between the two parties in the near future.

It is unlikely that the Algerian Football Federation, led by Walid Sadi, will appoint an Algerian coach to succeed the former coach Djamel Belmadi, contrary to previous rumors.

Sources also confirm that the new technical staff of the Algerian national team will include an Algerian coach working alongside the foreign coach who will be appointed.

It is worth noting that the Algerian Football Federation has decided to narrow down the list of candidates for the position of the Green's coach and is currently considering the Portuguese José Peseiro and his compatriot Carlos Queiroz, with the latter having better chances to succeed Belmadi.

Since 2018, Djamel Belmadi has received over 12 million euros in salaries and bonuses without his contract specifying specific goals.

Algerian sports commentator Hafid Derradji previously stated, "It seems that the contract linking Djamel Belmadi to the Algerian Federation was not morally significant to the people, as we were told. It was purely a financial contract, and now the coach is demanding his entire fees until 2026, totaling over 7 million euros. The president of the Algerian Federation proposed compensations not exceeding three months, worth 624,000 euros."

Belmadi left his position after the match against Mauritania, and although the Algerian Football Federation did not terminate his contract, he announced his departure to the players in the locker rooms after the match. The news was later leaked to French media before an agreement was reached with Walid Sadi to terminate the contract amicably upon his return to Algeria, a process that went smoothly with all staff members, but Belmadi refused, insisting on his full fees.
