Abdelmajid Bernaki elected president of Wydad Casablanca

After months of turmoil and uncertainty, Wydad de Casablanca finally sees a new era unfolding with the election of Abdelmajid Bernaki as the club's official president. The transition to this new leadership is now officially confirmed, marking the end of the tumultuous tenure of former president Saïd Naciri, who is currently behind bars due to his involvement in the now-famous "Sahara Escobar" affair.

The announcement of Bernaki's election came after an extraordinary general assembly, following several ordinary general assemblies held on Thursday evening in a palace in the economic metropolis. With a massive vote in his favor, with 81 votes for and only 3 abstentions, Bernaki officially took office, with overwhelming support from the Wydad community.

This new era is not just about a simple change of president. Indeed, the list of elected members includes influential figures who will bring their expertise and dedication to the service of the club. Among them, well-known names such as Abdessadek Mourchid, Hicham El Mellakh, Kamal Lahlou, Mustapha Mellouki, Nabil Lahlou, Saad Drieb, Brahim Laassri, Mohamed Idrissi, Abdellah Bennani, Mouhcine Benssouda, and El Kassri Mohamed Adil.

Before this extraordinary general assembly, Wydad de Casablanca also reviewed previous seasons, highlighting the challenges overcome and successes achieved. These moments of introspection have helped outline a clear roadmap for the future, based on stability, transparency, and a commitment to excellence.

Regarding the field, Wydad de Casablanca is gearing up to face new sporting challenges. Currently in fifth place in the Botola Pro D1 Inwi standings, the club is 21 points behind the leader, AS FAR. Although eliminated from the group stage of the African Champions League, Wydad remains determined to shine on both the national and continental stages, with a crucial match in the Throne Cup against Jeunesse Sportive Soualem on the horizon.
