Gaza Crisis: China Accuses the U.S. of Giving "Green Light to Massacre"

China has strongly criticized the United States for vetoing a United Nations Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

The Chinese Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Kang Jun, stated that this veto sent a "misguided message" and gave a "green light to continuous massacre." China expressed disappointment over this decision, emphasizing that the international Security Council should assume its legal responsibility by taking measures to end hostilities in Gaza.

China's stance on the Gaza conflict remains consistent, urging an end to Israeli military operations, particularly in Rafah, to prevent a humanitarian deterioration and protect civilians. Beijing reaffirmed its support for a two-state solution with the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders.

China criticized Israeli attacks, labeling Israel's actions as genocidal against Palestinians. It renewed its call for peace and the convening of a conference to resolve the crisis. China believes that peace in the Middle East depends on the establishment of an independent Palestinian state and expresses strong support for the Palestinian cause.

However, the chances of China mediating between Palestinians and Israelis are slim due to U.S. control over the issue. China remains a neutral actor, while Israel seeks to maximize its gains at the expense of Palestinians, viewing Washington as the ideal partner.

The U.S. veto has garnered international condemnation. China emphasized that the argument that the resolution would interfere with diplomatic negotiations was "completely untenable." It called for extinguishing the flames of war in Gaza to avoid an escalation of the conflict.
