Rainfall Puts an End to Dam Depletion and Revives Dam Reserves

The recent rainfall in Morocco over the past two days has halted the decline in dam levels and led to a slight increase ranging from 0.37% to 6.41%.

According to open sources from the General Directorate of Water Engineering at the Ministry of Equipment and Water, responsible for monitoring dam filling rates, the total increase in water volume in Morocco's dams was 0.54%, equivalent to 3,771.96 million cubic meters, according to Saturday's statistics.

The same report indicates that the dam situation on Friday confirmed the presence of 3,684.24 million cubic meters of water.

Despite this slight increase attributed to 96 millimeters of precipitation in the north, dam levels remain lower than those recorded at the same period last year when the rate was 31.87%, totaling 5,138.24 million cubic meters.

Regarding the regions that experienced the greatest increase in filling rates in the last 24 hours, the Tansift basin leads with a 6.41% increase, reaching a filling rate of approximately 55.28%. It is followed by the Locus basin with a 0.9% increase, reaching a filling rate of about 39.53%.

Other hydraulic basins recorded very slight increases, except for the Ziz Kér Ghriss basin, which has only one dam (Hassan Addakhil) and maintained a stable filling rate in the last 24 hours. The Moulouya basin, with six dams, saw a decrease of 0.05% in filling rates, keeping its dams at a filling rate of 23.67%.
