The Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, Social and Solidarity Economy, Fatima Zahra Ammor, has confirmed the Kingdom's commitment to increasing its hotel accommodation capacity to host the 2030 World Cup under optimal conditions. Details.
In an administrative ballet, Ammor reveals during an informed meeting of the Commission of Productive Sectors that her ministry meticulously crafts informed decisions, shaping the regulatory framework surrounding accommodation establishments.
Regarding domestic tourism, the minister unveils a dazzling crescendo: the number of overnight stays increased in 2030, recording 8.6 million overnight stays, representing 33% of the total classified hotels. She added that this represents an increase compared to the pre-crisis period when it accounted for only 30%.
According to Ammor, the Ministry of Tourism has dedicated two series for domestic tourism, namely the "Beach" series and the "Nature" series, offering new products at affordable prices for citizens and families. Projects such as the "Dino Park" in the Béni Mellal-Khénifra region, the "Natural Park" in Ifrane, and the "Topkapi Park" will benefit from these initiatives, and several other projects will soon be implemented.
She emphasized the upcoming challenges for her ministry, pointing out that it is necessary to attract an additional million tourists each year to reach 26 million tourists by 2030. Between 2010 and 2019, Morocco only attracted 3.6 million tourists, making this goal ambitious.
On his part, Adil El Fakir, General Director of the National Tourism Office, highlighted efforts to promote domestic tourism by establishing air links between several cities through Royal Air Maroc and "Air Arabia." He also noted that in 2023, the domestic airspace was opened to international airlines, allowing connections between certain cities and regions.
El Fakir confirmed that domestic tourism is also a priority for the Tourism Office, as the domestic tourist has been the primary customer of tourism in Morocco, surpassing the French market, which was once the main customer of the domestic market, for the past five years.
